What I Do

Resource Manager

Over 20 years experience building, managing, and motivating effective, highly capable design and development teams. I have extensive experience managing geographically and culturally diverse teams both in-person and remotely.

Strategic Focus

One of my strengths is the ability to think strategically and act tactically. I spend a lot of effort on analysis and learning; becoming deeply familiar a vast array of disciplines. From this I develop a vision then set out to identify the resources required to fulfill that vision. I act decisively and am not afraid to take calculated risks. I always consider the organizational purpose and keep that foremost in my planning.

Technical Leadership

Through assertive focus on the strengths available from staff, peers, management, and customers I seek to build a work culture of mutual trust. I am open to new ideas and value what diversity brings to a problem. I have strong analytical skills, excellent work ethic, and pursue excellence in the model that I present to my staff. I focus on results and allow for failure as an invaluable learning tool without ruling over every detail. I am quick to communicate honestly, effectively, and concisely. The success of the team is most important to me. I appreciate and recognize good work and high value.

Application Development

My application development experience goes back decades. I started my professional career developing small utilities and reporting and analysis applications. Since, my career has taken me through many languages, libraries, and frameworks. I have a passion for designing and building innovative solutions in the pursuit of excellence in the products of my effort.

Personality Type

I find that understanding someone's personality type is very helpful in knowing how to approach and interact with them. I have actually worked in places where we would do this as a team with fantastic results.

To give you a little more about me, I am sharing a quick overview of my personality type and what my particular style means.

Many systems exist; Myers-Briggs probably being the most famous, but my preference is DiSC profile. You can learn more at DiSC Profile.

The Di Style

Di styles tend to be results-oriented, vocal, and enthusiastic, influencing others through their charm and bold action.

  • Traits: dynamic, inquisitive, persuasive, rebellious, restless, entrepreneurial, results oriented, vocal, enthusiastic
  • Goals: quick action, new opportunities
  • Fears: loss of power or status, invisibility
  • Influences others by: charm, bold action
  • Overuses: impatience, egotism, manipulation
  • In conflict: addresses issues head-on; may say things they will regret
  • Could improve effectiveness through: patience, humility, consideration of others’ ideas
  • Leadership qualities: Di-style leaders are often pioneering, seeking to stretch boundaries, find opportunities, and achieve results.
